I don't think MW2 has a very long life left. Not quite as good as the original, and I think most of the community will just move on to Black Ops in November. I'm not really in love with MW2 either.
Not that this process is moving at a break neck speed to begin with, but I think we should wait for another game that we can move on to (Halo Reach might even be a candidate, as a lot of our members do have an Xbox). Outside of the Halo universe, there are several interesting looking games coming down the pike after the Holidays, like Rage, Brink, and the new Deus Ex. Brink is the only one that is designed for online, but I would be really surprised if the other two games didn't have serious multiplayer modes given their histories (less so with Deus Ex).
Also, BulletStorm, an FPS developed by a subsidiary of Epic games (people can fly, which did the painkiller games), is a possibility, though i wouldn't expect anything as high in quality as something from Epic itself.

Forget about the power of technology, science and common humanity. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for there is no peace amongst the stars. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
