Minecraft server updated to v1.6.6

To update your cracked clients just download the file that I have linked to in this post. Everything you need is all within that zip file so just extract and you are almost good to go. Just be sure to copy the "lastlogin" file from your "\_minecraft beta 1.5 n00b edition\" folder into the same comparable place as this new crack.

Texture Pack
Here is the texture pack that some of us have been using:

Instructions for texture pack update:
1. Start the game.
2. Click "Mods and Texture Packs".
3. Click "Open Texture Packs Folder". If nothing happens, just go to the texturepacks folder in .minecraft instead.
4. Place the Misa210.zip file into the texture pack folder.
5. Select Misa210 as your new texture pack in MC
6. Click "Open Texture Packs Folder" again. Delete Misa201.zip then close window
7. Click done


Instructions for first time install for texture pack:

2. Click Mods and Texture Packs.
3. Click Open Texture Packs folder. If nothing happens, just go to the texturepacks folder in .minecraft instead.
4. Copy all your texture packs into that folder.

With the newest update there is the ability to go to the Nether region. I have the feature turned on but I need to test out how it works before I can confidently allow for everyone. Thus the server is unavailable for now.

The main concern I have is with the 1:8 ratio in distances between the normal world and the nether and how this will affect world generation. What I don't want is excess world generation and thus excess load being put on the server. The picture below represents the memory usage for the server over the past 6 hours with the red box being how much memory we use before the MC server is started (including TS) and the green box is when the MC server is on.



As of right now we are at about 70% memory usage. If going back and forth between the nether along with exploring it (Looks at Pun) causes memory spikes/lag/server crashes, I will have to turn the feature off.

Because of the 8:1 size ratio, traveling in the Nether (and then building a portal out) can cause massive map generation. Thus we will have to limit Nether portals to just one.

I have gone ahead and place the normal world portal in a stone building located in between Chewy's sphere and Chewy's bro's giant box. Once you enter this portal, you will be transported to the other portal on the Nether side. This portal is encased in a 3-layer thick (Stone- Obsidian- Brick) fortress that will keep you safe until you go outside.

Once outside be prepared to get hit by the Ghasts (the flying screaming things) so don't stay in one place for too long. My recommendation is to bring plenty of food, a bow, and plenty of arrows. Don't bother bringing a map, compass, or clock as they don't work down there. Trying to sleep in a bed will just cause it to explode.

Installed Bukkit to the MC server which basically allows us to install all sorts of plugins (For a list of plugins see --> http://plugins.bukkit.org/#ti=&ta=all&au=&subm=false )

I have gone ahead and installed Essentials (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/gen-se ... 818.15312/ ) which gives us a whole host of new things. The biggest thing that I am shooting for is the economy tools (allowing you to buy,sell, and trade items). I've just started playing around with this thing and I might switch over to another plugin that gives more economy options.


Anyways, I think we need to set in stone some rules like B suggested. Right now have something like no spawning items, no messing with other people's builds/items, and no uselessly spawning more map. With this new economy tools we also need to think about what items should be unlimited spawned (like a chest where people can get free unlimited quantities of an items such as dirt) and things like that.

Instructions for 64bit MC install:
-By default windows 7 64 bit auto downloads java 32 bit. Why? Because browsers run in 32 bit and most java applications are web applications, thus the 32 bit default.
-To resolve this issue go to HERE and choose the 64 bit for your respective operating system. Install, rejoice, eat cake.
